I have worked for over 20 years at building an honest and fair tournament venue for bass fishing enthusiasts.

After spending the last day reading FB posts I suppose I have failed.  I understand the issues associated with the Bayou Black area.

  But what part of ‘stay out of the marsh’ is not understandable? I even went so far as to say that if your boat is not allowed, then neither is your lure.

Can that be made any plainer?  I cannot believe that we may have to remove a fabulous fishery from our circuit because of the “gray” areas.

There should be no “gray” areas. The marsh is the marsh is the marsh. Leased land is leased land and that includes the water that runs through it,

even though I do not agree with that law. If I decide to leave the remaining two Bayou Black tournaments as is,

 I will have boats on the water monitoring questionable areas.

As I always say, if you are uncertain as to whether or not an area is fishable please do not hesitate to call. 

I would also like to say that I should have called Orange Grove and Anthill off limits instead of the way I handled that.

My apologies for that mistake. Even if I had not received reports that fishermen were told to leave I would call those areas off limits for any future Bayou Black tournaments.

For future reference, based on the Google Earth image I saw on FB, if indeed this is the infamous L Canal, I can assure you it is, and always has been,

off limits based on what I have always said.  This is definitely not a “gray” area.  It is CLEARLY off limits.

  If anyone fished in this area on Sunday and drew a check, ethically, the check should be returned to me and re-awarded according to the new placements.
