03/8 - March 5, 2005 - Sam Rayburn, TX - Deep East Teams

'Big Sam' was as peaceful as an Easter rabbit on March 5th as the Deep East Texas teams took the water on the second of six events for the 2005 Team trail season. There was no wind at all! A total of 83 teams showed up to give their best efforts. What a great weigh-in we had too. There were 326 bass broght to the scales and only one casualty. Teams averaged 4.3 fish per boat fo rthe day. The total purse was $10,206.00 paid in fifteen checks.

Thanks, to you fishermen and women for being a part of this the largest attendance yet, in the Deep East teams. Thanks, also go to The American Angler store in Broaddus, TX for coleecting early entries so you could practice fish on thursday or Friday. Also, thanks to the Rushings for opening so early to house regestration on Saturday morning. Thanks, to Rhonda Griffin (score keeping), Kelly Williams (Miss East Texas, Hooked On Fishing - Not Drugs Queen) for computer and photography work.thanks, to William Ganske and Justin Pinnell. Tournament anglers fished in the Buck brush for the better success with jigs, tubes, and wacky worms. Steve Dillard and Tony Spivey had the winning limit of 19.14 lbs. to take home $2,650.00. Stan Burgay and Tracy Hooper finished second with 18.94 lbs. worth $1,350.00. Third Place money of $845.00 went to Travis Ballard and Rick Dorsett for their catch of 18.75 lbs. Big Bass of the day went to Steve Evans and Allen Chavis's bass of 7.55 lbs. worth $410.00 and they finished 7th overall for an additional $470.00.

Next month Deep East teams will "Double-Up" with the Southeast teams at Lake Livingston on April 16th at Lakeview Marina. All teams will compete for the same cash prize money but the points will be kept according to division enterd in. Entry fees may be left with Kickapoo Tackle (936)646-4478 on the lake prior to practice fishing on Thursday or Friday.Please leave an entry form, money, and include your division in an evelope for better records sake. Registration will also be held Saturday morning at Lakeview Marina (936)646-2685.
