March 12th, 2005 - Lake D'Arbonne - North Central Louisiana
The 44 teams that gathered at the D'Arbonne Lake Marina for the pre tournament registration were greeted by 25 mph winds at 5:00 AM. The take off, however , went off without a hitch and by 6:15AM all 44 boats were on their way to the first stop of the day. The winds continued blow all morning , and by the time the first flight started comming in for weighin everyone was well shaken up by the pounding of the waves.
There were some pritty impressive weights posted as Glynn Blankinship and Kenny Covington took the first place check of $2050 with a nice limit weighing in at 20.21 pounds. The team from Monroe also had the big bass of the event at 6.73 pounds that paid another $210. Glynn and Kenny used a variety of lures and fished the Corney Creek and Little D'Arbonne arms of the lake.
Second place went to the Bastrop, Louisiana team of Todd Harrington and Roy Fatheree who caught 19.55 pounds on the Big Lake. Third went to Ron Aulds and Curtis Simpson who fished spinner baits in the Little D'Arbonne arm to capture a limit weighing 18.56 pounds.
The ElDorado Arkansas team of Grant Koldem and Steven Bates fished the Bear Creek Arm and caught a limit weighing 18.00 pounds for forth place.Stacy Boggs and Chris Gates with 15.35, Mike Meadows and Rodney Summers with 15.13, Joe Sellers and Lanny Franks with 14.80 and Rick Carter and Jim Hall with 14.27 rounded out the top 8 places.
We lost only one fish in this event which is amazeing considering the pounding that was endoured. Thanks to all of our fishermen for a good safe tournament under some pritty tough conditions. Thanks also to all of our local sponsors.
